She is Stuck
It is midnight. She looks out the window and notices a slight breeze in the air. She is alone, appreciating the much needed silence. Not a car passes by. There's a sound of rushing water but she can't make out where it's coming from. It is unnerving yet soothing. She listens to it until she cannot hear it anymore. Her eyelids flutter, she stifles a yawn. Realisation soon dawns on her and she is quick to focus all her attention on the flickering screen in front of her. Papers are strewn everywhere, books with marked pages lie within grasp. The ashtray beside her is filled to the brim, but there is always space for a few more sticks to be let out. The pack of 20's is slowly diminishing but there is just no time to run out for more. She continues tapping away on the keyboard, reluctant to stop as the sentences form in her mind. But suddenly, easily as she started, her mind registers a blank and she cannot go on. It all starts again. She continues looking out the window, praying silently for an answer and for daylight not to come.
